Why construction?

There are hundreds of open positions in residential and commercial construction in our community, with starting wages ranging from $12 to $15 an hour. Employers need semi-skilled workers to meet the immediate workforce labor demand.

Professional Development

Construction Bootcamp devotes time to soft-skills training that equips students with the tools to overcome their individual barriers to employment. Some examples of soft-skill lessons include: time management, financial literacy, giving/receiving coaching, personal advocacy, conflict resolution, resume writing, and interview techniques.

Math & Measuring Skills

Construction Bootcamp students learn contextualized mathematic concepts through construction application. Lessons include basic fraction algebra, measurement skills, and basic geometry. Oftentimes, Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) exams are administered to students before start-of-program to determine remedial education needs.

Post-Graduation Support

At program completion, students receive an additional 12 months of placement, follow-up, and supportive services with the CCI Career Success Coach. This individual acts as a post-program mentor, maintaining bi-weekly communication with graduates and facilitating regular communication between CCI and construction firms that hire Construction Bootcamp graduates. The Career Success Coach coordinates additional training as necessary, to give graduates stackable credentials that lead to career advancement and job retention. Construction Bootcamp graduates can expect a starting wage of approximately $12/hour.
