BUILT FROM EXPERIENCE
CCI initially developed the Training Toolkit for our own programs: Denver YouthBuild, Construction Bootcamp and Building Pathways. Over the years, we have figured out best practices for delivering hands-on construction training to youth and adults. Our high success rates inspired us to share this product; we now offer access to the Training Toolkit to other schools and YouthBuild programs across the nation for a fee.
BRINGING TECHNOLOGY INTO THE CLASSROOM
The Training Toolkit includes Google SketchUp files for each of our build projects. Google SketchUp provides a connection between the classroom and the build lab; students are able to observe and explore every angle of a build project before picking up tools. These SketchUp files compliment traditional construction documents by displaying them in an interactive, 3-D environment.
TRAINING TOOLKIT METHOD
CCI bases the Training Toolkit on an experiential learning model. Our hands-on approach allows students to develop soft skills, including creative problem-solving, teamwork, and self-reliance. These confidence-boosting skills make our training applicable to any career path.
Our lessons are designed to gradually build the skills of students, so they are able to master advanced construction concepts by the end of their training. We provide tracking tools so instructors can monitor the progress of each student, and adjust training as needed.
